These purple and gold jackets were practically a required clothing item for athletes at St. Mary’s School on Franklin Avenue in the late seventies and early eighties, often accompanied by purple Converse with gold laces. It was hard not to spot a St. Mary’s kid at Angelo’s Coney Island on the East Side thanks to this color combination. Proudly owned and worn by the author.
